Bucharest, the 31st May 2019: The 16th edition of International Wine Contest Bucharest – VINARIUM took place in Bucharest between the 23rd and the 26th of May 2019. www.iwcb.ro

IWCB VINARIUM takes place under the patronage of OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine – www.oiv.int ) and VINOFED (World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions – www.vinofed.com )

IWCB VINARIUM was hosted by the Museum of Romanian Records – www.museumofromanianrecords.com ). In this unique space in Romania, there is the worlds’ largest collection of corkscrews, with over 30.000 pieces, one of the seven Guinness World Record of the museum.

301 medals were awarded, representing 30,9% of the total participating samples:

  • 2 Great Gold Medals
  • 230 Gold Medals
  • 69 Silver Medals

The distribution of the medals has followed the OIV regulations strictly:

  • Great Gold Medal: 92 points or above
  • Gold Medal: 85 – 91,9 points
  • Silver medal: 82-84,9 points

Due to the high level of quality of the signed in samples, the lowest average for a silver medal was 84,67.

In 2019, a number of 798 samples, representing 82,2% of the total number of samples had scores over 82 points.

497 samples, representing 51,1% of the total number of samples obtained a score compatible t the silver medal, which means they scored over 82 points, but did not manage to fit into the margin of 30% of samples, from the total of signed up samples, to receive a medal.

With the occasion of the 16th edition of IWCB VINARIUM the sound print of wine, created by Dr. Cătălin Păduraru, was presented for the first time in the world.
