{"id":7320,"date":"2023-06-05T11:18:16","date_gmt":"2023-06-05T11:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iwcb.ro\/en\/?p=7320"},"modified":"2024-05-22T17:46:00","modified_gmt":"2024-05-22T17:46:00","slug":"vinarium-2023-at-a-glance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iwcb.ro\/en\/vinarium-2023-at-a-glance\/","title":{"rendered":"VINARIUM 2023 &#8211; AT A GLANCE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>VINARIUM 2023<\/strong> <strong>~ 20th Edition ~<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VINARIUM 2023 took place in <strong>Ploie\u0219ti, <\/strong>located in <strong>the Dealu Mare Wine Region, <\/strong>at the<strong>&nbsp;<strong><strong>PRAHOVA PLAZA<\/strong><\/strong> Hotel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>There were 1311 samples registered from 23 countries<\/strong>: Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Cyprus, Croatia, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Republic of T\u00fcrkiye, Ukraine.<\/li><li>250 producers \/ importers\/  traders\/ producers&#8217; representatives) have registered their samples<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Still wines, sparkling wines, and spirituous beverages of vitivinicultural origin were registered in the competition<\/li><li><strong>40.58% of the total registered samples originate from outside Romania <\/strong>\u2013 the organizing country<strong>.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>There were judged as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1230 still wines<\/li><li>70 sparkling wines<\/li><li>11 spirits<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The total number of judges was 41 (21 foreigners and 20 Romanians), originating from 16 countries<\/strong>: Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Moldova, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The judging was carried out by <strong>7 commissions of 5 judges<\/strong>\/ <strong>commission<\/strong>.&nbsp;Each commission was led by a head of panel. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iwcb.ro\/en\/jury-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.iwcb.ro\/en\/jury-2023\/ <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;official observers&nbsp;present in Ploie\u0219ti were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Mr. Real WOLFE, Canada, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vinofed.com\/\">VINOFED<\/a><\/strong> <strong>Observer<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Mr. Roberto GAUDIO, Italy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oiv.int\/news\/agenda\">OIV<\/a><\/strong> <strong>Observer<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Mrs. Anne Wies van OOSTEN, Netherlands, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fijev.org\/page\/1175528-la-federation-the-federation\">FIJEV<\/a><\/strong> <strong>Observer<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The consensual average of each sample was calculated as an arithmetic average of the scores given by all jurors, after eliminating the extreme scores (i.e. the lowest and the highest scores were eliminated).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new change consists in raising the thresholds for awarding medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus,&nbsp;<strong><strong>419<\/strong> medals<\/strong>&nbsp;were awarded under the new OIV scoring system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o&nbsp;<strong><strong>11<\/strong><\/strong> <strong>Great Gold Medals<\/strong>&nbsp;(scores between 93-100)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o&nbsp;<strong><strong>286<\/strong> Gold Medals<\/strong>&nbsp;(scores between 89-92.9)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o&nbsp;<strong><strong>122<\/strong> Silver Medals<\/strong>&nbsp;(scores between 85-88.9)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though the minimum score for the Silver Medal, according to the OIV Regulations, is of 85 points, due to the restriction according to which only 30% of the total number of samples can receive an award, the last score for the Silver Medal was 88,00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wineries from Azerbaijan, Italy, Republic of Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine won the 11 Great Gold Medals.
